You Won't Get Rick Rolled, I Promise
Submitted by Ray on Wed, 07/22/2009 - 22:34DJ Morgoth has created a great mashup of Nirana's Smells Like Teen Spirit and Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up and Thriftshop XL has created this fantastic video for the song.

DJ Earworm has created some interesting mashups. Be sure to check out his United State of Pop 2008 mashup.
One of the earliest examples of the mashup genre, The Freelance Hellraiser's A Stroke of Genie-us (a mashup of The Strokes' Hard To Explain and Christina Aguilera's Genie In A Bottle), still remains one of my favorites.
Play Your Part
Submitted by Ray on Thu, 07/16/2009 - 23:00Girl Talk's Feed The Animals (wikipedia) was one of my favorite albums of 2008. This video for Play Your Part (Pt. 1), the first track of the album, is a mashup of videos for the songs Girl Talk sampled to create the song.
Lisztomania Revisited
Submitted by Ray on Wed, 06/24/2009 - 23:37Two weeks ago I posted FITM - Breakfast Club Mashup, a post about a couple fan created videos for the song Lisztomania by the French band Phoenix (wikipedia). I had a chance to watch the official video recently. The video is fine as far as music videos go. However, I was struck by how much more I enjoyed the fan created videos. With video technology getting cheaper and more widely used, encouraging fan videos is a great way to interact and connect with fans as well as generate cheap and effective promotional material.

Breakfast Club Mashup
Submitted by Ray on Wed, 06/10/2009 - 23:27avoidantconsumer put together this video mashup using clips from The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, Footloose and Mannequin for the song Lisztomania by Phoenix (wikipedia). Phoenix apparently likes the video as they've embedded it on their MySpace page.
The following video was created as a tribute to avoidantconsumer's video. The video was shot on a rooftop in Williamsburg.
The bridge you see in this video is the Williamsburg Bridge, you can find more pictures of the bridge at Concrete Span - Williamsburg Bridge. You can also catch glimpses of the Brooklyn Bridge (Concrete Span - Brooklyn Bridge) and the Manhattan Bridge, most notably in the final shot.
